Amel Frank Veltri passed away on Sept. 25, 2021 in Lawton, Okla. at the age of 44.
He was born on Feb. 21, 1977 in Los Angeles, Calif. to Amel Frank Veltri Sr. and Ellen Bernice Veltri.
Amel grew up and attended school in Hermiston. He later relocated to La Grande, where he met his wife and united in marriage in 2019. He worked for Union Pacific Railroad for many years and later as a mechanic.
Amel enjoyed anything with an engine. He had a long love of motorcycles, building and four-wheeling his jeeps. He tinkered on just about anything and had a love for fabricating. He enjoyed the outdoors, being in the mountains and spending time with friends doing those things he loved.
Amel is survived by his wife, Katie Veltri; mother, Ellen Bernice Veltri; daughter, Brittany Veltri; son, A. Frank Veltri Jr.; stepchildren, Justin Palmer, Austin Palmer and Josephyne McCall; granddaughter, Hadley Reece; sister, Lori (Leon) Scheel; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Amel was preceded in death by his father, Amel F. Veltri Sr.
He will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all who knew him.
A gathering followed by potluck will be at Hermiston Landmark Baptist Church on Saturday, Oct. 9 at 11:30 a.m.
A memorial service in La Grande will be announced at a later date.
