The annual Arbor Day Tree Giveaway, hosted by the Hermiston Parks and Recreation Department and the Hermiston Rotary Club, is set for Saturday, April 8 in the Hermiston Community Center parking lot.
This year’s choices are red maple, Washington hawthorn, green ash, river birch, hackberry, Bradford pear, bald cypress, Japanese zelkova, Colorado spruce and giant sequoia.
The free drive-through event starts at 9 a.m. and goes until all 1,700 trees are gone. Please do some research on the trees prior to arriving and know where you will be planting them. There is no limit on trees, but please take them in moderation and consider the supply on hand. For more information, call the parks department at 541-667-5018.
