Thirty-five Umatilla County educators were honored recently with Crystal Apple Awards, honored for their dedication to the success and education of their students.
The winners received their awards during a ceremony on Wednesday, May 21 at the Red Lion in Pendleton.
Among the winners were Deanna Garrard, a credit retrieval assistant at Hermiston High School; Margaret Gutierrez, an ELL teacher at West Park Elementary School in Hermiston; Tonya Langley, lead secretary for the Hermiston School District’s maintenance department; and Linda White, a third-grade teacher at Sunset Elementary School in Hermiston.
Other Umatilla County winners included Becky Bacon, a third-grade teacher at Echo Elementary; Beth Gehrke, administrative assistant with the Echo School District; Bridget Schultz, fourth-grade teacher at Stanfield Elementary School; Kelly Vandeman, maintenance and custodian with the Stanfield School District; Lee Cody, P.E. teacher at McNary Heights Elementary School in Umatilla; and Nancy McConnell, Title 1 Reading assistant at McNary Heights Elementary School.
