The Pendleton Arts Commission and Americans for the Arts will discuss the impact of arts and culture spending in Pendleton through a special presentation Wednesday, Sept. 18.
Randy Cohen, the vice president of research for Americans for the Arts, will present in Pendleton as part of a nine-stop tour of Eastern Oregon to unveil the results of the Arts and Economic Prosperity 6 (AEP6) study. Conducted in 2023, the AEP6 study sought to gather comprehensive date on the effects of arts and culture to Oregon’s statewide economic prosperity. Pendleton was one of 373 communities nationwide to participate in the study.
The study showed the nonprofit arts and culture industry in Pendleton generated $14.7 million in economic activity. That economic activity supported 161 jobs, provided $5.9 million in personal income to residents, and generated $1.9 million in tax revenue to local, state and federal governments. Cohen’s presentation will expand upon that information.
The results presentation begins at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 18, at the Pendleton Center for the Arts. Participants will have the opportunity to receive copies of the full study, to ask questions and to participate in a discussion about how the data can support continued investment in Pendleton’s diverse art and culture community.
Refreshments will be served, and the event is open both to invited guests and to the public.
