A heat advisory has been issued for today and will remain in effect until 9 p.m. tonight.

The National Weather Service has issued the heat advisory for the Eastern Columbia River Gorge and the Lower Columbia Basin in Oregon.

High temperatures are expected to reach between 97-101 degrees.

Temperatures will be slightly cooler Tuesday through Thursday before triple digit heat returns at the end of the week. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances. Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. Wear lightweight and loose-fitting clothing when possible. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air-conditioned environments.
