Barbara Ann Bieren passed away at her home on Nov. 11, 2017 at the age of 78.
She was born on Feb. 7, 1939 in Woodward, Okla. to John and Mildred Friend Hussey.
As a child, Barbara moved from Oklahoma to Vale and then to Salmon River, Idaho. She attended high school in Moses Lake, Wash., graduating in the class of 1957. After high school, she worked as a beautician in Ellensburg, Wash., where she met John Bieren. The couple were united in marriage on May 31, 1963 in Ellensburg. The couple lived in the Elgin and Hermiston areas for several years. She later moved to Tri-Cities, where she lived for 15 years and worked as a mental health advocate for the state of Washington. She had lived in Umatilla for the past 15 years.
Barbara enjoyed quilting, embroidery, working in her garden and studying her Bible. She attended the King of Kings Lutheran Church in Tri-Cities.
She is survived by daughters, Brenda (Mike) Schlepp, Jill (Rick) Holt and Patty (Rich) Estes; son, JT (Amber) Bieren; daughter-in-law, Pam Bieren; sister, Patricia Sime; 13 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John; son, Brent Bieren; and grandsons, Thomas and Austin Bieren.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 18, 2017 at the King of Kings Lutheran Church, 5209 W. Fifth Ave., Kennewick, Wash. A time of fellowship and refreshments will follow at the church.
