The local anti-drug task force Wednesday, Sept. 6, raided a Hermiston home and seized drugs, 13 guns, almost $4,000 in cash and arrested the suspected leader.

Luis Carlos Cornejo, 44, now is in the Umatilla County Jail in Pendleton, and faces felony charges associated with commercial drug offenses and possession of firearms and a silencer.

Pendleton Chief of Police Charles Byram in a press release reported the raid concluded an investigation during the past year into a drug trafficking organization operating in Umatilla and Morrow counties.

According to the press release, the Blue Mountain Enforcement Narcotics Team (BENT) with the assistance of the Oregon State Police SWAT team served a search warrant around 5:30 a.m. at Cornejo’s home, 233 E. Beech Ave., Hermiston.

BENT detectives located approximately 550 grams of possible cocaine, 204 grams of possible methamphetamine, 6,418 possible fentanyl pills, 185 grams of possible heroin, $3,988, 10 handguns including one silencer, three rifles and packaging material and other items associated with the distribution of illegal controlled substances.
