There is still time to register for the fourth annual Bike the Bridge on July 25.

The event, which has teamed up with the Tour of Knowledge, is free and open to bike riders ages 10 and up.

Participants and their bikes will load onto the Tom Denchel Ford shuttle bus at 2 p.m. for a ride across the Columbia River. After a short hike through the abandoned railroad tunnel, the riders will cross the river, drop down into the McNary Wildlife Refuge, make a pit stop at the park before continuing on Third Street. Riders will then turn left at the fish viewing station and pass through the McNary Dam Visitors Center parking lot. The ride will end at Spillway Park, directly below McNary Dam.

The shuttle bus will take participants back to Hermiston, arriving in town around 6 p.m. Folks who aren’t able to ride a bike can stay on the shuttle bus and meet the riders at Spillway Park.

Registration is required. Children must be accompanied by an adult, and all riders must wear helmets and bikes need to be in good repair. Bottled water will be furnished but participants need to bring their own lunch or snacks.

Photos of past Bike the Bridge events will soon be posted on the Tour Of Knowledge Facebook page.
