Blue Mountain Community College Volleyball Head Coach Jessica Humphreys has resigned from her coaching position in order to have more time with her family. Humphreys will continue to be a faculty member in BMCC’s nursing program.
“I am very grateful for the opportunity to have coached BMCC volleyball and helped this program grow to become a thriving, championship (5) program, setting NWAC records and putting our volleyball program on the map,” Humphreys said. “I will miss the opportunity to be a mentor for the student-athletes navigating the challenges of leaving home, and promoting academic, mental and spiritual growth.”
Humphreys served as co-head coach for the Timberwolves in 2015, working alongside her father, former longtime head coach Dave Baty. When Baty retired in 2016, Humphreys became the sole head coach. BMCC volleyball has won five Northwest Athletic Conference (NWAC) championships (2010, 2012-2015), one of which was while Humphreys was co-head coach (2015).
Her final day as head coach is Jan. 31.
“BMCC would like to thank Jessica for her many years of dedication to Timberwolf volleyball,” said Dawn DiFuria McClendon, BMCC’s director of athletics, outreach and student life. “She is leaving the program in a positive position for future success, and we’ll miss seeing her on the sidelines.”
BMCC plans to post the position next week to hire a replacement.
