The Blue Mountain Community College Board of Education appointed a retired BMCC employee as the new board member to represent Baker County.

Bob Savage will serve in the position through June 30, 2017, when he would need to file for re-election by the voters to remain on the Board.

Savage was the BMCC Center Out of District (COD) Coordinator for Baker County from 1997-2002, when he retired. He then began his role as the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) business advisor for BMCC in December 2011 through October 2015. Savage also spent time advising students part-time during his time with BMCC. He lives in Baker City.

Board of Education Chair Ed Taber swore Savage into the new board role during the Board’s regular meeting on Nov. 10. Savage will represent Zone 2 on the Board, which covers precincts 4, 5 and 33 in Baker City, Baker County, Durkee, Eagle Valley, Hereford, Irondyke, Keating, Pine Valley, Sumpter and Unity.
