The annual Blue Mountain Community College Student Art Show kicks off Thursday, May 12 with an opening reception from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Betty Feves Memorial Art Gallery in Pioneer Hall on the Pendleton campus.
The Student Art Show is the last show of the academic year before the Feves Gallery closes for the summer.
The annual show highlights the work of art students at BMCC and includes a variety of two-dimensional and three-dimensional pieces, including drawings, paintings, sculptures and ceramics. Awards will be given for Best of Show, first place, second place, third place and honorable mention. This year’s judge is Karl Davis, the executive director of Crow’s Shadow Institute of the Arts in Pendleton. He holds a Master of Arts degree from the University of Alberta and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Portland State University, both in art history. In addition to the Judge’s Awards, gallery visitors can also vote for the People’s Choice Award.
