BMCC Arts & Cultural Festival Set for Thursday

The Blue Mountain Community College Arts & Culture Festival will take place on Thursday, April 17 at the BMCC Hermiston campus.

The event’s theme is “Celebrating East of the Mountains” and will feature a series of speakers beginning at 10 a.m. with Richard Etulain presenting “History of Basque in Eastern Oregon,” followed by Pam Steele-Reese reading from her work, It’s My Truth to Tell at 11 a.m.

At noon, Eddie de la Cruze will present “The Dream Act,” followed by Umatilla County Commissioner George Murdock’s presentation, “Reflecting on a Legacy: 170 Years of Rural Education in Oregon” at 1 p.m.

At 7 p.m., there will be a panel discussion featuring Michael Morris and his book, Slow Way Home, which examines the issue of child abandonment.
