BMCC Concert Revue Gets Under Way Tonight

The Blue Mountain Community College music department will present a concert revue on the life and work of the composer who brought the world “The Sound of Music” and other musicals during a fundraiser Oct. 22-23.

Ticket sales for “Hammerstein” will benefit the BMCC Foundation, which provides scholarships to BMCC students.

“Hammerstein” is a music revue about the life and work of Oscar Hammerstein II, who won eight Tony Awards and two Academy Awards for Best Original Song, and was known for his musical classics with co-writer Richard Rodgers “The Sound of Music,” “Oklahoma!” “South Pacific,” and “The King and I.” The musical revue will feature the music of Rodgers and Hammerstein, and is an original production conceived, written and directed by BMCC music instructor and musician Margaret Mayer.

“Hammerstein” performances at BMCC’s Bob Clapp Theatre in Pioneer Hall will take place at 7:15 p.m. on Oct. 19-22, and at 2 p.m. on Oct. 23. General admission tickets are $10 ($5 for students), and family pricing is $30 for four or more. Group rates are available upon request. Tickets can be purchased at Pendleton Art & Frame (28 SW Court Ave., Pendleton) and the BMCC Foundation office, 541-278-5775 (Pioneer Hall, 2411 NW Carden Ave., Pendleton). Tickets will also be available at the door 30 minutes prior to each performance.
