Shick replaces Art Mota, who had coached the inaugural men’s team this past fall. Shick, who also works as BMCC’s Student Life Coordinator, served as the team’s assistant coach last fall. He brings with him 12 years of soccer experience, including four years at the collegiate level (Southwestern Oregon Community College, Linn-Benton Community College and Oregon State University), seven years coaching at the club level, and many years on the field as a referee.

He has a degree in Fisheries and Wildlife Management from OSU.

Fall 2018 will mark the second season of men’s soccer at BMCC. Shick said he’s looking forward to encouraging student athletes to succeed both in the classroom and on the field. He will kick off his role with BMCC soccier with 17 on the roster, including 13 freshmen and two scrimmages already set for the fall.

“I am very happy to take on this role, and look forward to mentoring and coaching our current squad through the spring,” Shick said. “We have a lot of work ahead of us, but I’m fortunate to have a great group of young men who have the focus and determination that can take them anywhere.”
