The Blue Mountain Community College (BMCC) bi-monthly legislative videoconference with Sen. Bill Hansell (R-Athena) and Rep. Greg Barreto (R-Cove) will add an additional face on Feb. 20.

Sen. Cliff Bentz (R-Ontario) will join the videoconference from Salem to discuss the Cap & Invest bill (House Bill 2020). Blue Mountain Community College and the Pendleton Chamber of Commerce sponsor the videoconference sessions in BMCC’s Pioneer Hall Boardroom the first and third Wednesdays of the month during the Legislative Session at 7- 8 a.m.

The community is invited to attend the videoconference to ask questions and hear more information about the potential impacts of HB 2020, which would regulate how much certain industries can pollute by charging them for their emissions. A similar bill, Senate Bill 1070, in the 2017 Legislative Session that would have put a cap on greenhouse gas emissions, but ultimately did not move forward.

Community members are also welcome to bring up other concerns or questions regarding proposed bills with the legislators during this videoconference.
