Blue Mountain Community College on Tuesday named softball player Sarah Bonner and baseball player Jared Rogers as the 2016-17 Wallace McCrae Student-Athletes of the Year.
The award honors student-athletes for their high GPAs andBlue Mountain Community College commitment to academics, strong leadership, sportsmanship, integrity, and accomplishments throughout the year. Each year, a male and female sophomore athlete at BMCC are selected by Athletic Director Brett Bryan to receive the high honor, which began in 1975, and honors BMCC’s first college president, Wallace McCrae.
In addition to each receiving a plaque, they’ll have their names added to a plaque in the McCrae Activity Center.
“We’re very proud of these student-athletes for their dedication both in the classroom and on the field,” Bryan said.
