Blue Mountain Community College (BMCC) in Union County is up and running after a few months of transition and welcomes Steve Clements as the new coordinator.
Clements jumped into the position, taking up where efforts left off last summer, working with high schools throughout the county on early college credit offerings and identifying continuing and community educational needs. Since the beginning of October, Clements has met with high school staff in La Grande and Cove, and finds these school administrators excited about offering college credit classes to high school juniors and seniors. With the right planning, high school students can earn college credit at a fraction of the cost of attending college and get ahead on their efforts to earn a college degree or receive technical certifications.
Continuing and community education needs remain in demand in Union County. In its collaboration with the La Grande School District and Union County, BMCC will offer classes to help people advance their skills in technical areas. EMT, welding, and basic computer skills are just some of the courses planned for winter term. If interested in these and other classes, contact Clements at (541) 663-3319.
