Blue Mountain Community College, in collaboration with Yellowhawk Youth Suicide Prevention Program, will be offering a two-day suicide intervention training this month.
The Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Jan. 27-28 in room 214 at Blue Mountain Community College in Pendleton. The training is free and attendance is required for both days.
ASIST is a two-day, interactive workshop that prepares people to provide suicide life-assisting, first-aid intervention. The format includes presentations, small group discussions, and skills practice. ASIST teaches Pathways for Assisting Life (PAL), a practical guide to doing suicide interventions.
