Blue Mountain Community College, in collaboration with Yellowhawk Youth Suicide Prevention Program, will offer a free two-day suicide intervention workshop for the general public Nov. 14-15.

The Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) is an interactive workshop that prepares individuals to provide suicide life-assisting, first-aid intervention. The format includes presentations, small group discussions and skills practice. ASIST teaches Pathways for Assisting Life (PAL), a practical guide to conducting suicide interventions.

The workshop is for anyone who wants to feel more comfortable, confident and competent in helping to prevent the immediate risk of suicide. Participation in the two full days of the workshop is required.

The workshop is free thanks to funding from the Garrett Lee Smith grant, but space is limited. Register online at the BMCC website.
