Two Blue Mountain Community College student-athletes have been named to the Northwest Athletic Conference’s men’s basketball All-Eastern Region Teams for 2016-2017.
Sophomore forward Jared Mathews was named to the Second Team for the Eastern Region, while sophomore guard Isaiah Harris was named to the All-Defensive Team.
Mathews earned his spot on the Second Team by putting up numbers of 15.81 points per game and 10.67 rebounds. He’s known for his skill in the low block area and continues to add new dimensions to his game, said Head Coach Gavin Burt.
“Jared works hard at his craft and is a great student as well,” Burt said. “We are so proud of Jared and what he has accomplished here at BMCC,” said Burt.
Harris averaged 9.42 points per game and 6.19 rebounds over the season, and Burt said Harris is a great athlete and teammate.
“He works extremely hard on both ends of the floor and never backs down from a challenge, Burt said. “It was great seeing him outwork other teams on a daily basis. We are very proud of Isaiah for his accomplishments the past two years at BMCC.”
