BMCC Rodeo Teams Atop NW Region Standings

The BMCC rodeo teams are on top of the Northwest stanedings after a successful weekend at the Northwest Intercollegiate Rodeo Finals in Hermiston.

The Blue Mountain Community College men’s and women’s rodeo teams swept the Northwest Intercollegiate Rodeo Finals on May 1-2 in Hermiston.

Both teams topped the standings for the Northwest region, with Danyelle Williams landing at the top of the Women’s All-Around standings, and Callahan Crossley taking fifth and Makenzie Fuller taking sixth. BMCC took the top six slots in the Men’s All-Around standings with Jared Parke, Clayton Hansen, Chase Hansen, Michael Pederson, Jordan Tye and Austin Thompson, respectively.

Parke also topped the standings in Tie-Down roping and Steer Wrestling, while Jessica Lewis and Crossley took first and second place, respectively, in barrel racing. A complete listing of the Northwest Region standings is available online.

The weekend’s results also bumped up both the men’s and women’s teams in the national rankings. The men’s team now sits in the No. 2 spot nationally, while the women’s team is ranked third in the country. Parke is No. 3 in the Men’s All-Around national rankings, while Williams is ranked fourth in the Women’s All-Around. Also coming in the top 25 in the Men’s All-Around are Clayton Hansen (No. 7), Chase Hansen (No. 14), Pederson (No. 18), and Tye (No. 20). In the Women’s All-Around, Crossley is ranked No. 15 in the nation.

Parke also sits in the No. 1 spot nationally for Tie-Down Roping, with Tye and Pederson in the No. 9 and No. 11 spots, respectively. A full list of national standings is available online.

Next up for the rodeo teams is the College National Finals June 14-20 in Casper, Wyo.
