Both the men’s and women’s rodeo teams from Blue Mountain Community College are sitting at the top of the northwest region standings of the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association following competition last weekend at the Walla Walla Fairgrounds.
In addition, Jared Parke leads the men’s All-Around standings, just ahead of teammate Jordan Tye. Chase Hansen is currently sitting in 3rd place in the northwest region standings. On the women’s side, Danyelle Williams is currently in 2nd place in the All-Around. BMCC also sits atop the leaderboard for the region in tie-down roping (Parke), steer wrestling (Parke and Justin Garland, in 1st and 2nd, respectively), team roping (Tye and Parke), barrel racing (Jessica Lewis), and breakaway roping (Williams).
The teams competed in the March 11-13 Walla Walla Community College-hosted rodeo, with the men’s team taking home 1st place and the women 2nd. Parke and Tye led the men’s All-Around, coming in 1st and 2nd place, respectively, while Williams landed in 2nd place in the women’s All-Around.
Preston Espeland and Ryan Verling landed in 2nd and 3rd place in saddle bronc riding, while Kenneth Haworth and Tyler Potter took home the first two slots in bareback riding. Tye, Parke and Hansen came in 2nd, 3rd and 4th, respectively, in tie-down roping, while Parke took home the win for steer wrestling. Tye and Parke also came in 2nd in team roping, while the team of Garland and Allie Brown came in 3rd. Four Timberwolves landed in the top five in barrel racing, with Emily Sorey, Lewis, Tiffanee Lewis, and Shandie Britt coming in 2nd through 5th, respectively. BMCC took the top spots in breakaway roping (Williams) and goat tying (Quincy Pendergrass).
