Both the men’s and women’s rodeo teams at Blue Mountain Community College are ranked first in the Northwest Region of the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association following strong finishes at rodeos hosted by Treasure Valley Community College at the Malheur County Fairgrounds.

At the Oct. 16 rodeo, the men’s team placed first, with Jared Parke securing the top spots in the men’s all-around, tie-down roping and steer wrestling, and second place in team roping with teammate Jordan Tye.

In addition, Chase Hansen and Jordan Tye took second and third place, respectively, in tie down roping.

The women’s team notched a second place finish, with Quincy Pendergrass placing second in the women’s all-around title.

On Oct. 17-18, the women’s team took top honors, while the men’s team came in second overall, just 15 points behind TVCC’s men’s team. Danyelle Williams finished in first place far ahead of her competitors in the women’s all-around following a first place finish in goat tying, second place finish in barrel racing, and third-place finish in breakaway roping. Jessica Lewis edged Williams for the first place finish in barrel racing.

The men’s team had strong performances as well, with BMCC team members placing first in three events: bareback riding (Tyler Potter), steer wrestling (Justin Garland), and team roping (Chaise Robbins and Hansen). Parke finished second in the men’s all-around with second place finishes in tie-down roping and in team roping (with partner Tye).
