Both the men’s and women’s Blue Mountain Community College rodeo teams are sitting atop the Northwest Regional standings of the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association following a sweep of team wins at the Northwest Regional Rodeo #1 and Treasure Valley Community College rodeo Oct. 14-16 at the Malheur County Fairgrounds in Ontario.
Besides the overall team wins at both events, BMCC had standout performances in the all-around titles. On the men’s team, JT Garland and Preston Pederson landed in the No. 1 and 3 spots, respectively, for the men’s all-around at the Northwest Regional Rodeo #1, while Quincy Pendergrass, Danyelle Williams, and Lauren Leyva took the top three spots in the women’s all-around. At the TVCC rodeo the next two days, Williams and Leyva took the No. 1 and 2 positions, respectively for the women’s all-around title, while Tyler Opie and Pederson took the No. 3 and 5 spots, respectively, in the men’s all-around competition.

This is the last round of college rodeo action until the spring. The BMCC women’s team is coming off of its second national championship in a row following stellar competition at the College National Finals Rodeo in June in Casper, Wyo., where Williams also took home the women’s all-around national championship title.
