Blue Mountain Community College has signed an articulation agreement with Southern Oregon University in Ashland to allow Early Childhood Education program students to seamlessly transfer to complete a bachelor’s degree.
Students who earn an Associate of Applied Science degree in Early Childhood Education (ECE) from BMCC will now be able to transfer that degree and general education requirements to Southern Oregon University, where they will be able to continue their online studies to pursue a Bachelor’s degree.
This will allow students to transfer from BMCC to SOU directly as juniors and be eligible to begin the Early Childhood Development coursework with no loss of credits.
“This new partnership gives our students the opportunity to transfer without obstacles to continue their pursuit of a career in early childhood education,” said Dawn Kennison-Kerrigan, the ECE Program Coordinator for BMCC. “This ultimately saves students time and money since all of their credits will seamlessly transfer to SOU in junior status.”
In addition, Kennison-Kerrigan said the partnerships will enhance BMCC’s relationships with both Head Start and the Oregon Coalition of Childhood Development (OCCD) the two colleges work together to help Head Start and OCCD employees achieve their educational goals.
