Blue Mountain Community College will host 11 regional colleges and universities at its Pendleton campus on Tuesday, Jan. 26 as part of Oregon Transfer Days.
This annual event offers community college students an opportunity to learn more about transferring to a four-year college following their BMCC education.
The event runs from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Student Union in Pioneer Hall. Students will have the chance to meet with college and university representatives, and can learn more about each campus’s offerings, admissions requirements, choosing courses wisely, navigating college costs and financial aid, and tools to make the transfer transition as smooth as possible.
Visiting colleges include: Eastern Oregon University, Lewis-Clark State College, Oregon State University, Oregon State University – Cascades, Oregon Institute of Technology, Portland State University, The Art Institute, College of Idaho, University of Oregon, University of Western States (Portland), and the Ford Family Foundation.
BMCC will also host several other opportunities throughout the week to assist students who seek to transfer to a four-year school.
On Wednesday, Jan. 27, BMCC will host a “Tips On Transferring” workshop from 10-11 a.m. in Morrow Hall Room 208. Kerry Thompson, an EOU advisor, will provide tips to transferring to any four-year university or college, including information on financial aid, applications, programs, scholarships, college demographics and more.
On Thursday, Jan. 28, BMCC’s Student Success Center and TRiO program will host College Application Assistance workshops throughout the day. The two programs will also host a “Filling out Scholarships and FAFSA” workshop on Friday, Jan. 29. Both workshops are drop-in.
Oregon Transfer Days is part of a state-wide tour to all 17 community colleges.
