Blue Mountain’s Brian Howell Signs to Attend Four-Year College

Brian Howell, a pitcher for the Blue Mountain Community College baseball team, has signed a National Letter of Intent to continue his collegiate athletic career and education with Morningside College in Sioux City, Iowa.

Howell becomes the ninth Timberwolf sophomore that has signed to a four-year school to play baseball this year. Howell, of Rathdrum, Idaho, pitched for the Timberwolves for the last two seasons.

“Brian was a hard worker for the ‘Wolves the last two seasons, and improved his velocity 11 mph while at BMCC,” said Brad Baker, BMCC’s head baseball coach. “I wish Brian the best of luck at Morningside.”

The other eight Timberwolves to sign National Letters of Intent to continue playing ball at four-year schools this fall include:

  • Austin Florez (outfielder from South Jordan, Utah – Oregon Institute of Technology)
  • Tanner Heiman (1st baseman/pitcher from Kennewick, Wash. – Grand View University, Des Moines, Iowa)
  • Gunnar Johnson (pitcher from Fairview, Ore. – Dakota Wesleyan University, Mitchell, South Dakota)
  • Chase Labbe (catcher from Meridian, Idaho – College of Idaho)
  • Matt Palmer (outfielder from Palmer, Alaska – Waldorf University, Forest City, Iowa)
  • Nathan Pena (pitcher from Meridian, Idaho – College of Idaho)
  • Rodney Scarver (centerfielder from Prosser, Wash. – Briar Cliff University, Sioux City, Iowa)
  • Tate Spivey (3rd baseman from Kennewick, Wash. – College of Idaho)
