Women’s basketball sophomore guard Mar’Shay Moore is the Baden Women’s Basketball Player of the Year for 2015. Just last fall, Lady Timberwolf volleyball outside hitter Sierra Linke was named the Baden Volleyball Player of the Year. This is the first time two BMCC athletes have received Player of the Year honors from the NWAC in a single academic year.

Moore capped off an outstanding season by leading the Lady Timberwolves to a fifth-place finish in the NWAC tournament in March, the second-highest placing finish ever for BMCC in only its third appearance in the NWAC tournament. Following last month’s NWAC tournament, Moore was named the East Region Most Valuable Player, as well as the East Region Defensive Player of the Year. During the tournament, she was also named 1st Team All-Tournament, thanks to her tournament record in scoring – she scored 123 points in just four games. In addition, Moore was named 1st Team East Region All-Star and 2nd Team All-Tournament in the NWAC tournament during her freshman year.

“I am very proud of Mar’Shay,” said BMCC Women’s Basketball Head Coach Adam Driver. “She worked very hard and spent countless hours in the gym this off-season to improve her overall skills, and to be rewarded with the Baden Player of the Year is special. She is well-deserving of this award and is a great player on the court and an even better person off the court. I am truly blessed to have had the privilege to coach Mar’Shay the past two years. Her joy for the game of basketball and her positive attitude are infectious. It has been a pleasure watching her develop and grow as both a player and person over the past two years. She will be missed.”

BMCC President Cam Preus was thrilled to learn of Moore’s honor.

“Having two outstanding female athletes from BMCC honored as the NWAC’s Player of the Year is quite an accomplishment, and I’m so proud of these young ladies,” Preus said of Moore and Linke. “I think it also speaks very highly of our talented coaching staff, support from our athletic office and from the rest of the College community.”
