The Boardman City Council presented the Riverside High School soccer team with certificates of achievement during the Dec. 5 meeting for the team’s success in bringing home the Oregon Class 3A/2A/1A state soccer championship.

The team played last month against Catlin Gabel in Hillsboro with a 4-1 victory.

Mayor Sandy Toms, who was in attendance via phone and apologized for not being there in person for the presentation, said how proud Boardman was of the team. Assistant Coach Jose Duenas also expressed how proud he was of the team saying “big things come in small packages.”

This is the second state title for the Riverside High School boys soccer team.
