Boardman Mayor Paul Keefer announced during the Boardman City Council neeting this week that the council is in negotiations with one of the candidates for the city manager position.
The city is working with Strategic Government Resources (SGR) of Keller, Texas to recruit candidates to fill the position left vacant when former City Manager Karen Pettigrew resigned in January prior to taking office on the Boardman City Council.
Last week the council held a Meet and Greet to invite the public to meet three candidates they have chosen, and asked attendees to fill out comment cards for the council’s consideration. About 90 citizens turned out for the event and several completed comment cards. On Friday the council held panel interviews of all three candidates. The council hopes to have the position filled sometime in March.
In other city business, the council heard the 2021-2022 audit presentation from Barnett & Moro, P.C. The city had overspent in a few places, but auditor, Rick Stoddard said there was nothing he felt he needed to communicate to the council otherwise.
Councilors heard a presentation from the city’s garbage provider, Sanitary Disposal, Inc., asking for an increase in fees for garbage service. The council will consider a resolution later in the year to raise garbage rates.
Keefer also appointed Edith Velasco to serve on the Boardman Budget Committee to fill one of three vacancies on that committee.
