The Boardman City Council recently passed three resolutions that cover development incentives, broadband strategy and a new fee schedule.
Resolution 1-2020 extends development incentives which expired on Dec. 31, 2019. In an effort to encourage new construction in Boardman, the city council passed a resolution that temporarily waives water and sewer System Development Charges (SDC’s) for a period of 12 months. The resolution waives the SDC’s on a sliding scale based upon the number of Equivalent Dwelling Units built.
All property owners or developers of residential or commercial property within the city limits are eligible for the waivers. The waivers will expire on Dec. 31, 2020.
The council also passed Resolution 2-2020 accepting a broadband strategic plan for the city of Boardman. The strategic objective of this plan is to obtain broadband speed and reliability necessary for economic and community vitality, enhanced public safety, educational opportunities, and quality of life for all Boardman residents and businesses.
Resolution 3-2020 adopts a new consolidated fee schedule to govern fees for city services. There was an addition added to page three under the section for Planning Application/Review Type. A line item was added for zoning review with any planning action from the above list for a cost of $50.
In other business, the city of Boardman is beginning talks to expand water and sewer projects in Boardman. The expansion will ensure reliability in the city’s water and wastewater systems.
In Boardman Police Department news, Loren Dieter was promoted from lieutenant to captain. Dieter grew up in Boardman and raised his family there.
