The Boardman Fire Corps has been holding fund-raising events during the past few years to purchase an extractor washing machine and dryer. The appliances help clean and remove all harmful toxins from firefighter gear, reducing the risk of exposure to cancer-causing agents.
Early this year, Boardman Tillamook gave the corps a grant that, when added to fundraiser monies, helped them reach their target. The washer and dryer are now installed and working. Anyone wishing to see a demonstration of how it all works can call the fire station at 541-481-3473.
