The Kiwanis Club of Boardman has awarded four $500.00 scholarships to graduating seniors of Riverside High School and Irrigon High School to further their education. Scholarships are awarded for class achievement and service to the community and the high schools.
Recipients from Riverside High School
Stephanie Stokoe: Daughter of Rick and Shari Stokoe of Boardman. She was active in softball, a member of Key Club, and National Honor Society while holding a part time job. She achieved a rank of third in her class. She plans to attend Blue Mountain Community College to become a certified E.M.T and phlebotomist.
Jennifer Shimer: Daughter of George and Marie Shimer of Boardman. She ranked sixth academically in her class of 57. She is a member of Key Club, National Honor Society, and was senior class president. She plans to attend BMCC and then transfer to Eastern Oregon University for a degree in business management.
Recipients from Irrigon High School
Colten Charles Seelye: Son of Casey and Rebecca Seelye of Irrigon. Colten has been active in Key Club, National Honor Society, Football, and FFA. He ranked seventh in his class of 50. Seelye plans to attend Mt. Hood Community College then transferring to Western Oregon University to study criminal justice.
Nicholas Strong: Son of Daren and Dianna Strong of Irrigon is ranked first in his class with a G.P.A. of nearly 4.0. He has been fully involved in band at Irrigon High School, is a member of National Honor Society and an instrumental member of his church. He plans to attend George Fox University studying music and mechanical engineering.
