Boardman 'Mayor' Contest Winners Announced

The winners of Boardman’s “If I Were Mayor, I Would” Contests were announced at the recent Boardman City Council meeting.

The winner of the contest, for students in grades six through eight, was Jocelyn Rodriguez. She won a $50 Visa gift card. Second place in the essay contest was Elizabeth Bernal, winning a $10 Visa gift card. First place in the poster contest, for fourth and fifth graders was Suzie Newton. She won a $25 Visa gift card. Second place in the poster contest was Allison Newton, winning a $10 Visa gift card.

This year no entries were received in the digital media presentation category for ninth through 12th grade.

The contest is sponsored annually by the Oregon Mayor’s Association, and participating cities from around the state of Oregon. First-place winners from the individual cities will be entered into the statewide completion for a chance to win an iPad. Ipad winners will be invited to attend the Oregon Mayor’s Association’s Annual Conference to be presented their prize. Mayor Sandy Toms congratulated the winners on behalf of the city, and each was presented with the prize and a certificate.
