A Boardman man died Sunday from injuries suffered in a motorcycle accident on State Highway 74.
According to the Oregon State Police, troopers responded around 2:18 p.m. to a report of a single-vehicle crash near milepost 22. The OSP says Gordon Wayne Smith, 68, was operating a 2005 Harley Davidson FXD motorcycle eastbound on Highway 74 when he failed to negotiate a curve in the highway and veered off the road. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The highway was closed for about three hours. The OSP was assisted by the Morrow County Sheriff’s Office, Ione Ambulance, Heppner Ambulance and the Oregon Department of Transportation.
