The city of Boardman has announced the candidates for the vacant city manager position.
The candidates chosen for interviews are Elke Doom of Huron Township, Mich., Sharon Jakubowski Wolz of Kearney, Ariz., and Aaron Palmquist of Irrigon.
Former City Manager Karen Pettigrew stepped down earlier this month, and the Boardman City Council has been working with Strategic Government Resources of Keller, Texas to recruit candidates to fill the position.
The city will host a “Meet and Greet” event for the public to meet the candidates. The event will be at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 2 at the Port of Morrow’s Riverfront Center.
The city hopes to name a new city manager in March.
If the City of Boardman desires an informed individual as to the operations of a local city and Morrow County, Aaron Palmquist would be an excellent choice for Boardman City Manager. Mr. Palmquist is knowledgeable in grant applications and receiving funds from outside revenue sources. In addition, Mr. Palmquist is knowledgeable in land use decisions including zoning and development.
