Boardman Quilt Group members have just completed their 2017 Raffle Quilt and tickets are now on sale.

The quilt will be exhibited for viewing and tickets will be available for purchase at the Oct. 7 Boardman Sage Center Harvest Festival; and during the October 13-14 Boardman Fall Quilt Show at Boardman Senior Center. The winning ticket will be drawn the afternoon of Oct. 14, the last day of the 2017 show.

Preparing the annual Raffle Quilt is one of the earliest preparation activities for the Annual Fall Quilt Show. Boardman quilters began this project in the fall of 2016. The quilt top is a collection of holiday cranberry red and forest green fabrics on a cream background: the backing is cranberry red, embellished with a green tree and golden star.

Individuals who helped assemble the blocks and put the top together included Nancy Pace, Plymouth, Wash.; Marie Cornell, Lila Killingbeck, Glenda Bozarth, Marsha Condi, Carol Michael, Cheryl Tallman,  Kathy Morgan, Kathy Hyder, Mildred  Baker, all of Boardman; and Sandy Moroney of Umatilla. The unique double sided quilting design was created especially for this quilt by Carley Schriever of Irrigon.

Raffle tickets are $1 each. Improve your chances of winning the quilt by purchasing a half yard (18) of tickets for $5. The proceeds of the annual quilt raffle are used to pay for classroom space rental at the senior center, to bring guest instructors to class meetings; and to deliver or ship quilts for community service projects.

There is no charge to participate in Boardman Quilt Group activities. Quilts may be exhibited at the Annual Fall Quilt Show by all interested persons. Family heritage quilts are welcome for display, as well as quilts made by the exhibitors. There is no fee to enter a quilt, but an entry form is required.

In addition to exhibits of new and vintage quilts, the 2017 Fall Quilt Show will offer workshops, demonstrations,  vendors; a trunk show, door prizes and a country store. Lunch and beverages will be available. Visit with featured quilter-Lila Killingbeck. Everyone can vote for the People’s Choice Awards for Adult & Youth Quilters.
