At their first meeting of the new year on Tuesday, the Boardman City Council accepted the resignation, effective immediately, of City Manager Karen Pettigrew. She was elected in November to serve on the city council and felt it was for the best for the city to resign at this time.

Mayor Paul Keefer swore in Roy Drago Jr., Pettigrew, and Isaac Williams as city councilors. Drago Jr., and Williams were re-elected to the council in November.

All three councilors will serve on the council for a term ending Dec. 31, 2026. Keefer also presented outgoing Councilor Leslie Pierson with a certificate of appreciation for serving the past three years on the city council.

The council approved a resolution allowing goose hunting on Dan McCarty’s property within the city limits to deter the geese from destroying his crops.

Also at Tuesday’s meeting, the mayor appointed Mike Connell to the planning commission. He also re-appointed Jacob Cain and Jennifer Leighton to the planning commission. Alejandra Mendoza was re-appointed to the budget committee.
