Boardman's Roberto Gonzalez Passes Away at 63

Roberto “Papi Daddy” Gonzalez died on Nov. 3, 2015 at his home in Boardman at the age of 63.

He was born on March 26, 1952 in Mexico to parents, Isabel Gonzalez and Esther Chavez. Roberto was raised in Mexico until the age of 18 when he moved to California. He moved to Boardman, Oregon in 1973 and went to work for Oregon Potato. Roberto has worked at Oregon Potato since 1973 as a mechanic. Roberto married Guadalupe Salazar on May 15, 1997 in Heppner, Oregon. He was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Boardman, Oregon. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, sports, and time with his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife: Guadalupe Gonzalez, Boardman, OR; sons: Roberto Gonzalez Jr., Arizona, David Villegas, Boardman, OR, Gerardo Villegas, Boardman, OR, Luis Villegas, Mexico; daughters: Isabel Gonzalez, Silvia Gonzalez, and Luisa Villegas, & Margarita Villegas, all of Boardman, OR, Ana Villegas, Hermiston, OR; father: Isabel Gonzalez, Colima, Mexico; sisters: Estella Gonzalez, Ellena Gonzalez, Alicia Gonzalez, & Silvia Gonzalez; brother: Javier Gonzalez, all of Colima, Mexico; 18 grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Roberto was preceded in death by his mother, Esther Chavez.

Rosary will be held on Thursday, Nov. 5, 2015 at 6:00 P.M. at Burns Mortuary Chapel in Hermiston.

Mass will be held on Friday, Nov. 6, 2015 at 10:00 A.M. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Boardman.
