Willie Baker Jr., of Boardman, died on Sept. 19, 2016 in Salt Lake City, Utah while on his way back home from visiting family, at the age of 65.

He was born on Nov. 10, 1950 in Lawtey, Fla., to Willie Fayson and Ernestine Baker. Willie was raised and attended schools in Florida. He moved to Portland in 1968 and then to Boardman in 1986 where he has lived since. Willie was united in marriage to Sinda I. McKim on October 10, 1992 in Boardman. He worked for Oregon Potato in Boardman from 1986 until retiring in December of 2015 as the Peel Room Operator. Willie enjoyed fishing, camping, barbecues, family gatherings, gardening. He was known for wearing bright and flashy colors, and shirts and hats with catchy sayings.

He is survived by his wife: Sinda Baker, Boardman, OR; sons: Gregory Fayson, S. Dakota, Raymond McKim & his wife Kassie, Umatilla, OR; daughters: Melinda Fayson & Linda Murray & her husband Drey, all of Valdosta, GA, Tosha McKim, Portland, OR; brothers: LeVern Baker, Valdosta, GA, Nathaniel Fayson, and Fred Fayson, both of Lawtey, FL; sisters: Melvina Broom, Atlantic City, NJ, Gloria Jean Fayson, Lawtey, FL, and Janeece Fayson, Portland, OR; 9 grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Willie was preceded in death by his parents and 5 siblings.

A celebration of life potluck gathering will be held on Saturday, Oct. 1, 2016 from 1 to 6 p.m. at the Spillway Park in Umatilla.
