Bobby Levy, a business owner, farmer, and founding member of the Eastern Oregon Women’s Coalition, is launching her campaign for the Oregon House of Representatives for District 58.
Levy, who was born in La Grande and has lived most of her life in Umatilla County, has been actively involved with rural Oregon issues for more than 20 years. Her experience includes serving as chair of the Oregon Department of Fish & Wildlife Commission and president of the Eastern Oregon Women’s Coalition. She helped establish the Eastern Oregon Economic Summit and has hosted tours for elected officials, business leaders, and state agency directors to educate them on the vital role Eastern Oregon’s natural resource-based economy plays in the state.
“Eastern Oregon is too often overlooked and undervalued by Salem,” said Levy, a lifelong Republican. “People here know better than anyone how special our land and resources are and how to best utilize them. We need strong leadership in the Capitol to make sure our resources are locally managed to the benefit of our communities and state, allowing our businesses and economy to thrive.”
Levy will be running to succeed Republican Greg Barreto, who recently announced he will not run for re-election.
Levy has master’s degrees in education and business administration from Eastern Oregon University and Portland State University. She was an adjunct business instructor at Blue Mountain Community College and has served on the Greater Hermiston Chamber of Commerce Government Affairs Team, Umatilla County Budget Committee, and Umatilla County Housing Authority Board.
Levy co-manages the family farm near Echo with her husband, Robert, and raises guardian dogs for livestock protection against predators. She is a member of Oregon Women in Agriculture and the local Umatilla County Women in Agriculture chapter.
Oregon House District includes Union, Wallowa, and portions of Umatilla counties, as well as the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation.
