Bobby Short

Bobby Junior Short passed peacefully in Hermiston on Oct. 7, 2024 at the age of 86.

Bobby was born on Oct. 29, 1937 in Jay, Okla. to Clarence H. and Rhoda Williams Short.

Bobby spent his adult years in the construction trade and farming. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing. While it wasn’t often that he brought home meat for the table, the camp fire stories became epic tales. He loved birthday parties and family Christmas celebrations. He enjoyed giving and receiving gifts. Christmas stockings were his favorite! He felt that birthday cake wasn’t complete without ice cream.

Bobby is survived by his wife of 33 years, Hazel Adele Anderson Short. He is also survived by his children, Bobby Short of Irvine, Ky., Daniel Short, Gary Short, Steven Short of Afton, Okla. and Stephanie Short Webber of Miami, Okla.; sisters, Norma Short Northrup, Christine Short O’Toole and Barbara Short. Additionally, he is survived by his step-children, Patty Sink Echols and David Sink Thomas of Irrigon, and Richard Sink of Gottland, Sweden. Bobby had many nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren who were very important to him.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Clarence (Buster) Short and Jack Short; sisters, Lorene Short Graham and Shirley Short Donald; and daughter, Natalie Short.

A memorial service and “First Birthday in Heaven” party will be held on Saturday, Oct. 19, 2024 at 2 p.m. at the Irrigon Columbia View Community Church, 1230 Highway 730. To honor Bobby and because of his love of Christmas stockings, please bring small gifts to fill Samaritan’s Purse Operation Christmas Child shoe boxes.
