The Hermiston Bulldogs’ offense struggled Friday night against the Richland Bombers in 48-7 loss at Fran Rish Stadium.
Hermiston’s only score of the game came with a minute left in the first and trailing 7-0 when Isaac Corey hit Dale Krebs on an 11-yard pass to even the score.
The Bombers regained the lead for good with less than a minute left in the first on a 50-yard pass from Joshua Woodard to Seth Shook.
Richland then pulled away in the scoring three times in three different ways before the half was over. The first came on a 60-yard interception return for a score with under a minute left in the first quarter.
Richland went up 27-7 with 5 minutes left in the second quarter on another touchdown pass from Woodard. A rushing touchdown sent the Bombers into the locker room with a 34-7 lead.
Landon Charlton scored a pair of rushing touchdowns in the second half to wrap up the Bombers’ scoring on the night.
The loss drops Hermiston to 1-1 on the season. They will host Walla Walla (0-2) on Friday.
Richland improves to 2-0 and will take on Hanford (0-2) on Friday.
