The Hermiston Bulldogs get their 2014 varsity football season under way at 7 p.m. tonight with a road game against the Hanford Falcons.
The Bulldogs are coming off a 3-0 Columbia River Conference record last year. Hermiston, 6-4 overall a year ago, had their season ended in the first round of the playoffs against Dallas last November. Hermiston is led, once again, by senior quarterback Chase Knutz. Other key seniors returning this year are running back/kicker Luis Medina, running back Cory Adams and receiver Cole Smith.
The Falcons finished 3-8 overall and 2-6 in conference play. Next week, the Bulldogs will host Kamiakin, followed by a home game against Springfield on Sept. 19, and a home game against Lewiston on Sept. 26. Hermiston then hits the road for games against Coeur d’Alene on Oct. 3 and Sandy High School on Oct. 10. CRC play gets under way on Oct. 17 when the Bulldogs host The Dalles-Wahtonka, followed by a road game against Hood River Valley on Oct. 24. The conference season wraps up for Hermiston with a home game against Pendleton on Halloween night.
