The Hermiston Bulldogs ended a tough year in spectacular fashion Friday night by overwhelming North Central, 55-28.
The season finale at Kennison Field was a crossover game between the Bulldogs of the Mid-Columbia Conference and the Indians of the Greater Spokane League.
Hermiston’s Garrett Walchli scored three touchdowns in three different ways Friday night to help the Bulldogs end a four-game skid. The first of his scores came on a 63-yard run in the first quarter. He followed that up with a 39-yard touchdown reception from quarterback Sam Schwirse before returning an interception nearly 75 yards for yet another score. D.J. Wilson also returned an interception for a touchdown. Sean Stewart returned a blocked punt for another Hermiston score.
The Bulldogs scored all their points in the first half, taking a 55-0 lead into the locker room.
Schwirse was nearly perfect on the night, completing 13 of 14 passes for more than 200 yards and 3 touchdowns.
The Bulldogs finished the season 2-8 overall and 1-7 in conference play.
