CAPECO is offering a free six-week training series for unpaid family caregivers who support loved ones dealing with ongoing health conditions or decline due to aging.
The program, Powerful Tools for Caregivers, will take place from Oct. 21 through Dec. 2 in the Irrigon Library Meeting Room, 490 N.E. Main Ave. Classes will be on Mondays from 2 to 3:30 p.m. (no class on Nov. 11). Participants will learn skills such as effective communication; how to reduce guilt, anger, depression and stress; goal-setting and problem-solving; making tough decisions; and better self-care. They’ll also receive a copy of “The Caregiver Helpbook.”
