Carl E. Kelso, formerly of Meacham, died on June 29, 2017 in Hermiston at the age of 76.
He was born on Dec. 3, 1940 in Webb City, Mo. to Raymond and Beulah Lewis Kelso.
At the age of five, he moved to Pendleton, where he attended school and graduated from Pendleton High School in the late 1950s. He lived in the Meacham area for over 30 years until moving to Hermiston three years ago.
He worked for Marlette Homes for many years. He then worked for the state highway department, doing road maintenance until retiring.
He was a talented woodworker and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a member of the Eagles Lodge in Hermiston, where he was past president and state father.
He married Virginia Burton in Pendleton on Feb. 23, 1985.
He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Virginia, Hermiston; six stepchildren; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Penny Burton; a son, Dan Burton; and grandchildren, Brandon and Wesley.
At his request, no services are planned. A private family interment will be near Meacham.
