Carol Krause died on March 19, 2018 at her home in Stanfield at the age of 89.
She was born on Dec. 28, 1928 in Concord, Calif. to Joseph and Ada Mabel (Nitcher) Corliss.
Carol moved to Oregon with her family who settled into the Westland area near Hermiston. She attended Hermiston schools and graduated from Hermiston High School in the class of 1946. After high school, she attended nursing school at St. Anthony’s Hospital in Pendleton. Carol married Karl David Krause in Ontario on Feb. 12, 1949. The couple made their home in Stanfield, where she had resided since. In addition to her work as a homemaker, Carol also helped keep books for her husband Karl’s automotive business, City Motor Services.
Carol was a member of the Stanfield Garden Club and a longtime active member of Crossroads Community Church in Stanfield. She also enjoyed growing flowers, especially her roses.
She is survived by a brother, Glen Corliss; grandsons, Jeremy and Jason Krause; nieces, Carolyn Stiefel, Jackie Lucas and Marilyn Shilhanek; nephew, Joseph (Kelly Hale) Corliss; and many extended family members.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Karl in 2004 and her son, Donald in 2010.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 24, 2018 at Crossroads Community Church. A private family interment was in Hermiston Cemetery.
