Prior to honoring some of Hermiston’s outstanding citizens Wednesday night, the Hermiston Chamber of Commerce honored one of its own – Debbie Pedro.
Pedro stepped down as executive director of the chamber in December and took a new role with the Columbia Development Authority. Pedro had been with the chamber for 18 years – the past 10 as the executive director.
On Wednesday, during the 49th annual Distinguished Service Awards Banquet, the chamber board called Pedro to the stage to thank her for her time with the chamber.
Pedro, who was the 2016 Woman of the Year, returned the favor and thanked the chamber board.
“This is the best board of directors,” she said. “You guys have all been part of our success. I appreciate all your support.”
