A chemical release at Shearer’s Foods in Hermiston on Tuesday sent three people to the hospital.
Umatilla County Fire District #1 (UCFD#1) and hazmat responders were called to Shearer’s Foods Tuesday with reports of employees getting sick and suffering respiratory issues.
The leak apparently came from a laboratory on site, according to UCFD#1. The chemicals were disposed of after being isolated. Morrow County Emergency Medical Services also responded.
Three employees were sent to Good Shepherd Medical Center for treatment.
The cause of the leak is unknown.
